Mastering Burnice: The Ultimate Guide For Zenless Zone Zero Players

Burnice, Zenless Zone Zero’s newest five-star pyromaniac, has finally touched down with quite the explosive hype behind her. If you’re planning to pull her, or already have and are looking to build from scratch, here’s everything you need to know to ensure Burnice can utterly cremate your enemies.

Understanding Burnice: The Fire Anomaly Character

Burnice is a unique character in Zenless Zone Zero, categorized as a Fire Anomaly. Her playstyle is heavily focused on Fire Damage over Time (DoT) as well as off-field damage. Unlike many other characters, a significant portion of her damage is dealt while she’s not actively on the battlefield. This flexibility allows her to adapt to various team compositions and strategies.

Her abilities feature high damage scaling, meaning she can contribute significantly to your team’s overall damage output, whether she’s on the field or not. This makes her a versatile character capable of fulfilling multiple roles, particularly in teams that capitalize on her unique mechanics and damage potential.

Burnice’s Gameplan: How to Utilize Her Effectively

To maximize Burnice's effectiveness, players must understand her core mechanics. Central to her strategy is the application of Burn and her unique Afterburn mechanic. This allows her to deal additional damage to enemies afflicted with Afterburn, especially when attacked by allies. Thus, she can operate off the field while contributing to the team’s damage output.

Burnice needs to manage her secondary resource: Heat. Once her Heat gauge exceeds 50%, she enters what is called the Nitro-Fuel Cocktail State, allowing her to apply Afterburn. This state is critical for maximizing her damage potential, so players must balance her Heat and Energy resources carefully.

Drive Disks: Optimizing Burnice’s Performance

As an Anomaly character, Burnice benefits greatly from specific stats on her Drive Disks. The primary stats to focus on include ATK% and Anomaly Proficiency (AP), which enhance her damage output significantly. Additionally, secondary stats like Crit Rate, Crit DMG, and Energy Regen can also be effective, depending on the build you choose.

  • Disk 4: Choose AP or ATK%. If opting for ATK%, ensure that it has good AP sub-stats.
  • Disk 5: Focus on ATK% or Fire DMG%. PEN Ratio% is viable if you have other sources.
  • Disk 6: Prioritize ATK%, Anomaly Mastery (AM), or Energy Regen (ER).

Building Burnice for Different Roles

Sub-DPS Configuration

Burnice shines brightest when utilized as a Sub-DPS in team compositions focused on maximizing her off-field damage. To achieve this, gear her with Drive Disks that enhance her AP and ATK%, allowing her to support the team effectively while she’s off the field.

  • 4p-Chaos Jazz / 2p-Piece Freedom Blues: This setup grants a hefty 60 AP to Burnice, boosting the power of her EX Specials when she swaps in.
  • 4p-Chaos Jazz / 2p-Swing Jazz: This combination offers increased Energy Regen, making it easier to maintain her Heat gauge.

Hypercarry Build

If you aim to play Burnice as your main DPS, this requires a more substantial investment in her gear. A Hypercarry build focuses on maximizing her ATK%, AP, Crit Rate, and Crit DMG to unleash devastating damage. However, this setup demands significant farming for optimal gear.

  • 4p-Inferno Metal / 2p-Chaos Jazz or Freedom Blues: This combination offers a massive 28% Crit Rate and additional AP when targets are Burning.
  • 4p- Chaos Jazz / 2p-Inferno Metal: Provides Burnice with the largest Fire DMG% possible, necessitating character swaps to maximize its benefits.

Choosing the Right W-Engines for Burnice

Burnice's signature W-Engine, the Flamemaker Shaker, is the best choice for her, as it provides all the necessary boosts for a strong DPS role. Other competitive options include Electro-Lip Gloss (R5) and Fusion Compiler, both of which can enhance her damage output significantly.

In most cases, I wouldn’t recommend using engines outside of these, as they may not yield the same results unless in niche scenarios where specific combinations are required.

Mindscapes: Enhancing Burnice’s Effectiveness

While Burnice is effective even at M0, investing in her Mindscapes can amplify her strengths considerably. Most players should aim to reach M2 for enhanced performance, as each Mindscape offers unique benefits that complement her abilities.

  • Kindred Flames (M1): Grants Burnice more flexibility with her Heat while significantly increasing Afterburn damage.
  • Burning Invitation (M6): Allows Burnice to trigger her own special Afterburn without consuming Heat, which can change the course of battles!

Team Compositions Featuring Burnice

Burnice can thrive in various team compositions, thanks to her versatile build options. Here are some potent team setups to consider:

Burnice/Jane/Caeser

This composition is optimal for maximizing Burnice's sub-DPS capabilities while Jane Doe takes the lead as the main DPS. The goal is to inflict Disorder by applying two different Anomalies, allowing for massive damage output when executed correctly.

Burnice/Piper/Lucy

This setup allows both Burnice and Piper to alternate as Sub-DPS characters, switching back and forth to keep the pressure on enemies. Utilizing Lucy or Caeser in this composition can provide additional damage support, enhancing overall team performance.

By understanding Burnice's mechanics and effective team setups, players can unlock her full potential in Zenless Zone Zero, ensuring an impactful contribution on the battlefield!
